Plagiarism Policies

Plagiarism Policies

WeAvecU is dedicated to upholding the integrity of the scientific record by publishing only original, unpublished work. The following policy outlines our approach to plagiarism and the responsibilities of authors and editors:

  1. Originality and Author Responsibilities
    • Manuscripts submitted to WeAvecU journals must be original and not under consideration, in whole or in part, by any other publication.
    • The corresponding author must confirm that all co-authors have read and approved the manuscript prior to submission.
    • All sources must be properly cited, and any reuse of previously published material must be clearly acknowledged.
  2. Plagiarism Screening
    • All submissions are screened for plagiarism using advanced detection software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate).
    • Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% are not considered for publication and will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected outright, depending on the extent and nature of the overlap.
    • Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
      • Copying text, ideas, images, or data without proper attribution.
      • Reusing significant portions of one’s own published work without citation (self-plagiarism).
      • Using figures, tables, or graphics without permission or proper credit.
  3. Handling Suspected Plagiarism
    • If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript will be investigated following the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
    • Minor overlap: Authors will be asked to revise the manuscript and address all issues.
    • Major or extensive plagiarism: The manuscript will be rejected, and authors may face sanctions.
    • If plagiarism is discovered after publication, WeAvecU will investigate and may retract the article, notify the authors’ institutions, and update the public record as appropriate.
  4. Author Guidance
    • Authors are strongly advised to:
      • Properly cite all sources and provide full bibliographic information.
      • Use quotation marks for any directly copied text exceeding six consecutive words.
      • Obtain written permission for any use of copyrighted images, figures, or tables.
      • Ensure all cited sources are listed in the bibliography and vice versa.
  5. Ethical Commitment
    • WeAvecU follows the COPE workflow for suspected plagiarism, ensuring a fair, transparent, and consistent process for all cases.
    • Authors found to have submitted plagiarized work may be subject to sanctions, including suspension of manuscript processing and notification of their institution.
  6. Maintaining Scientific Integrity
    • WeAvecU is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing and expects all authors to adhere strictly to these guidelines.
